Sierra Leone: Government Bans Travel for Over 100 Former Officials

The Bio government issued a travel ban for former President Ernest Bai Koroma and dozens of Ministers and officials from the pre-2018 government. According to Attorney General Anthony Brewah those on the list are accused of corruption and abuse of office during their tenures.

Sierra Leone’s Anti-Corruption Commission announced an investigation into former Minister of Housing and Lands Dr. Dennis Sandy for corruption and abuse of office.
It is unclear whether this is a move aimed at quieting critics of President Bio who accuse him of tribalism or a serious step towards the anti-corruption effort he promised in his 2018 campaign.

Sierra Leone: Bio ReShuffles Cabinet

President Julius Maada Bio reshuffled his cabinet amid questions about the viability of his nominees. His New Direction party seemed to be concerned with pushing its nominees through the vetting process about a year ago. By making this move now, it seems that Bio is admitting the process was rushed and possibly flawed.
On the other hand, making the changes now gives him time to re-establish the support he garnered in his presidential victory and perhaps make steps to improve the direction Sierra Leone is taking.
